schrodingers_man: (But what's puzzling you)

BASICALLY.

OK no it's actually a lot more complicated than that.

Yomiel's first impression of Kimbley was basically "That guy's an asshole. ...Probably not a Communist, but definitely an asshole." Which is not necessarily as bad of an impression as it might seem? Yomiel doesn't exactly have room to criticize people for being assholes.... But still, he was not exactly first in line for getting all buddy-buddy with Kimbley.

And Greed didn't help that at all when Yomiel told him his role and he was like "I bet Kimbley's a Communist and even if he isn't, he's a backstabbing asshole so don't trust him." And Yomiel really did intend to follow that advice! But then they got into the trial and Kimbley just kind of laughed off everything Yomiel tossed at him and was basically like "hey Greed trusted you so I'll trust his judgement and follow your lead" and Yomiel just. Completely wasn't expecting that. Nothing Kimbley did at the trial was what Yomiel was expecting, really. (Including hitting on him. What was that, Kimbley, what was that.) Kimbley consistently had Yomiel's back in that trial and Yomiel's pretty used to people not having his back by this point, so... I wouldn't say he was touched exactly, because you're still an asshole, Kimbley, you're just. His kind of asshole.

And then Rin declared that Kimbley was next up on the Communist's chopping block and Yomiel was a little mad that apparently he wasn't even considered enough of a threat to even get scanned, but mostly he was scared that he was just starting to warm up to this guy and he was already doomed like WASN'T LOSING GREED ENOUGH OF A KICK TO THE PANTS? Of course not; apparently Yomiel's friendship is literal poison.

So he was really worried about Kimbley all night and really hoping Rin's prediction would be wrong and then NOPE Kimbley died and he was the Defense Officer and Yomiel felt like the biggest heel for all the shit he said about the Defense Officer to him. Kind of like the biggest heel in general for even doubting him enough to investigate him in the first place, really. Like, finding out that Kimbley was the Defense Officer probably gave him a few more ticks in the positive feelings category than he really deserved, because Yomiel really is just kind of overly sentimental like that.

In case, y'know. The whole "talking to the corpse" thing didn't make that one clear.
