Greeeeeeeeeeeeeed.

That first conversation on Day 0, of course, Yomiel came to the conclusion that Greed was a ghost just like him. And that meant a lot to him! He's never met another ghost (he's aware that Lynne has one following her around, but they're working at odds with his goals so they are clearly not friend material. Ha. Haha. Hahaha.), so the possibility of someone who knows how fucking awful it is to be dead was really exciting and he was immediately attached to Greed baaaaaad.

So that first night, he waffled a lot on who to investigate, but ultimately he picked Greed because he just really needed to know if he could trust Greed or not, more than anybody else. And he could! And that was a huge relief. God only knows what he would've done if Greed showed up as a Communist, but it probably would've been incredibly stupid. Because Yomiel.

He wasn't really planning on telling Greed his role and result, though. He wasn't really planning much at all that first day, just kind of a directionless "yeah I guess I'll try to win this thing since I ended up with an important role and am generally opposed to us all getting slaughtered on principle. (Also killing is bad and wrong and people who do it shouldn't get away with it NOT THAT I'M TALKING ABOUT MYSELF HERE OR ANYTHING.)" And then after the trial people were like "dude, you gonna die" and he was like "shit, yeah, probably" so it was like yeah better tell Greed he's Officially Cleared JUST IN CASE.

He thought about directly talking about the whole dead thing, too, but GOD that's an awkward conversation to start and WHAT IF HE'S WRONG or WHAT IF TALKING ABOUT IT PISSES GREED OFF OR SOMETHING it's just safer to sit down and shut up and not risk rocking the boat or anything yeah that's fine kind of want to pretend those last ten years never happened anyway. First non-cat friend he made in ten years, he might've been overthinking things a little a lot.

And then he didn't die but Greed did. And that fucked him up. He was confused that Greed was dead and he wasn't, and hurt that Greed hadn't told him his role when he'd told Greed his own considerably more dangerous one, and mad the Communists had taken his one trustworthy clear from him on TOP of the other positive feelings he had about Greed, and PISSED AS ALL HELL that their intended target didn't even seem to give a shit, and just. He was not in a good place. If he hadn't been, aheh, otherwise occupied for most of the morning and missed it, his reaction to the message accusing Phi probably would've just been "I didn't write that, so we can ignore it. (P.S. Yes, I'm implying I'm the Loyalty Officer.)" THANKFULLY HE'D CALMED DOWN SOME BY THE TIME HE ACTUALLY HEARD ABOUT IT AT THE TRIAL, but yeah. Congratulations, Greed, you really won the friend lottery on that one.

He still thought about Greed sometimes the next couple of days, too. Mostly like, "I really should've said something about the dead thing, even if I was wrong I might've been able to get it off my chest," and "jesus christ, 300 years old, how the fuck was he not a gibbering mess, I'd completely lost my shit after 10 years, I can't even fucking imagine literally 30 times that," and just. General seething bitter hatred in Clay's direction. Because GOD was that not fair, if the Communists had targeted Greed for some reason that would be one thing, but no it was a series of unfortunate coincidences completely outside Greed's control and that just kind of ground his gears extra hard. NOT SUBCONSCIOUSLY FAMILIAR OR ANYTHING.
