DAY 01

[Good morning! The doors unlock at 07:00, the enforced sleep effect wearing off just a few minutes prior. As you file out into the facility for the morning, it won’t take long to figure out what’s different. The first clue is probably the corpse in the Central Hub - the body that formerly belonged to Seryu Ubiquitous.

Once everyone’s up, there is an announcement from Friend Computer.]

Good morning, Citizens! Last night, participant Seryu-R-CIT-1 was terminated due to Communist action. In addition, one participant was successfully converted from a Citizen into a Communist. There are now 13 Citizens and 6 Communists.

Trial 01 will begin at 20:00.

[At 08:00, the usual fleet of cleaning droids will clear up the corpse and surrounding mess.

On the profiles list, Seryu’s full User ID is now visible, and her status has changed to DEAD.]

If the killer left a fake dying message, you'd think they would try to frame someone who was actually here. Anyway, what else does "Johnny" mean besides being a name?

[She's not being sarcastic, she doesn't know this language stuff.]

Well, that's only the obvious answer, isn't it? "Johnny" can be an English slur for a guy's-- [ She hesitates, looking down. ] Well, you get the idea.

Who would write that in blood at a crime scene?

I don't know, why would anybody? Even though that's the most common use for "johnny" in English, I believe, it could also refer to the clothes that a patient wears... Hmm.

None of these explanations make sense... but there's no way that message isn't important to the case.

Of course it doesn't. They're expecting us to see the message as it is. Perhaps we're simply reading the message wrong to begin with.

It can't be an anagram or an acronym. There's no way to rearrange the letters into something else meaningful and none of our names start with a J.

Now I'm really hoping that it's just a huge red herring to completely throw us all off.

Or a distraction to keep us from looking at something else. It's probably a good idea to move on. If we come up with something later we can come back to it.

[The idea of the message will still be there, even when it can't be seen.]
