TRIAL 02

Attention, Citizens! You have ten minutes to proceed to the Loyalty Chamber. Anyone who is late to the Loyalty Chamber, or who brings any weapons into the Loyalty Chamber, will be immediately executed.

[Once you arrive, you will find a large chamber, with twenty podiums spaced around the room in a circle. On the ceiling, a massive screen showing the digital eye of The Computer, turning to look at whoever is talking.]

You have one hour to come to a consensus about who to eliminate. Ties will be broken randomly.

[The floor of the chamber begins to split apart, eventually only leaving the twenty podiums as safe places to stand, above a seemingly bottomless abyss. Each podium lights up with a touch screen showing twenty user IDs (the dead are grayed out), plus the word “ABSTAIN”. However, ABSTAIN has now been grayed out as well. The trial begins now!]

So. First of all, I'd like to offer a round of congratulations to our communists: you missed. Good job; handshakes all around.

[Well, somebody is bitter as hell, from the sound of it. Though he does seem to be smirking like a douchebag again, so at least there's that.]

Since somebody has to be the one to ask the stupid questions around here and I guess it's going to be me for the foreseeable future: we're going on and on about how outing the Loyalty Officer is going to get them killed, right? Is there a reason we're all allergic to letting the Defense Officer do their damn job?
harshwords: (♦ oh‚ you're not that bad)

[personal profile] harshwords 2014-11-09 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Because the Defense Officer can't just protect the Loyalty Officer the whole game. That would be stupid.

Fair point, and I'm not going to argue it. At the same time, we currently have no way to know who's doing what unless we all just want to believe Yomiel is the luckiest guy on the planet and keeps stumbling across people with roles.
harshwords: (♦ we knew ye well emiya shirou)

[personal profile] harshwords 2014-11-10 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
Either that or he's the Loyalty Officer himself. Though his story is too convenient if you ask me.

You think so?

[No, really, keep going.]

That's what I'm hoping the Defense Officer is doing, but if said role fell on someone who has other attachments already, their personal interests could screw everything up.

That's also assuming they've found each other in the first place, which we have no way to know.

Point. [he thumbs over toward simon]

But like the monkey guy said, they can just pass the identity along now, assuming Yomiel is "safe." We've got no real reason to believe he is, but I don't think a Communist would be cocky enough to draw that much attention to themselves on the first day.

It's not just Yomiel we'd have to assume is safe - anyone can roleclaim here, can't they? I mean, you could say you're the Loyalty Officer right now.

Erm... because after this trial, the Defense Officer can just ask Yomiel to pass their name to the Loyalty Officer?
alchemicals: (005.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2014-11-09 11:57 pm (UTC)(link)
If they want to assume they're not passing their name to a particularly convincing communist, sure.

Y-you think one of the Communists is posing as the Defense Officer?
alchemicals: ...periodically (006.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2014-11-10 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Who knows? Maybe Yomiel's a communist. Maybe the person posing as the Loyalty Officer is a communist. Maybe whoever ends up going to Yomiel after this is a communist claiming to be the Defense Officer.

I've been saying this from the first day - if the computer wanted everyone to die this badly, he could have just left it up to some of us and we'd have gotten it done in less than half the time.

The Defense Officer might not be trustworthy, themselves. You could be the Defense Officer for all I know, and I don't know if I'd feel safe trusting my neck to you.

[ Greed might've mentioned a thing or two about knives ending up in backs. ]
alchemicals: (007.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2014-11-10 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks, jackass.

[At least he seems more amused than anything.]

While we're standing around giving each other shit, I'm probably going to be giving you a lot at this trial, too. Because really? I'm getting bored with this game and we're only two days in; the sooner we take out a bunch of communists the better. And giving you hell seems to get results.

I don't know, I'm bad at sentimental bullshit. But hell, if Greed trusted you, so do I for the time being. So try not to take out anyone else on our side.
schrodingers_man: (I'm a man of wealth and taste)

[personal profile] schrodingers_man 2014-11-10 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. Thanks. I don't know if I'd say I trust you, but I believe you're not a Communist, at least.

I've got plenty of ideas you can have fun tearing down, but I'll need everybody off my back before I can expect them to listen to any of it.
alchemicals: ...periodically (006.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2014-11-10 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, as long as you believe that, that's all that matters.

I don't know what I can do about everyone else, because you are not exactly looking good right now, but I'm willing to just say "fuck it" and yell at some people if you want. I'm an attack dog, I'm not exactly a leader of the people.

For excellent reason.

But! What if someone takes out the Defense officer after everyone knows who the Loyalty officer is, man?
alchemicals: (010.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2014-11-10 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
The chances of that are a lot lower if the Defense Officer knows what's good for them and keeps their mouth shut.
fullonbraced: (It's all about the art maaaan!)

[personal profile] fullonbraced 2014-11-10 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
But the communists could figure it out, man! We can't let that happen!
alchemicals: (005.)

[personal profile] alchemicals 2014-11-10 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
And do you have any ideas on how to prevent that?

The problem could also be that the Defense Officer or Loyalty Officer was the Indoctrinator's target on the first night. If one of them was, their ability wouldn't work.
alchemicals: (010.)

...I can trust that.

Do you think one or both of them are thinking that the Communists are making nonsensical moves? If they were, it would be just as hard for them to figure out who to protect or investigate.
