Strategically, yeah, it shouldn't matter. But as someone with a special role, the Scanner's existence put a lot of stress on him.

There's also his grudge against a detective in white who killed him, of course. They might be bleeding into each other at this point.

Of course it matters. It's this bastard's fault that Greed, Kimbley, and Simon are all dead! With all the roles known and the Loyalty Officer on his way out tonight, there's no strategic difference between the Communists now, so at least I get the satisfaction of taking out the one guy who's given me the most grief!

Speak for yourself, kid. I was never planning on surviving this. And it's not about who's right or wrong, either. Maybe I thought that at the first trial, but as soon as they killed Greed, this became personal. Except for Knightley, I don't care about what happens to the rest of you. It's revenge, plain and simple.
