DAY 00

[Good afternoon, Citizens!

Your consciousness blurrily returns as the transport tube your comatose body was stored in opens up, admitting you access to an unfamiliar room. One wall is covered by vertical tubes, one occasionally sliding open to admit another confused person. The wall across from you has a sign saying "PROCEED TO CENTRAL HUB", with an arrow pointing at a red doorway in the corner. The wall to your right contains an unlabeled, dusty, and poorly-lit hallway with blue walls, floor, and ceiling. You can't see the end from here.

Somewhere on your person, you will find a thin, smartphone-sized object that wasn't there before. One side of it is lit up with a red background and a number of disabled menu items. Most of the screen is taken up by another message saying "PROCEED TO CENTRAL HUB".

What is this place, anyway? And who are these people stumbling in through the transport tube array?]

[[Beyond the three prompts below, anyone may start their own prompts to mingle or go off and do their own thing or whatever else they want!]]

This feels more like a prison than a battlefield, and condemned prisoners have the right to choose their final meal. I'm not expecting a five-course meal of foreign delicacies, but we deserve better than... this.

You don't think it's a battlefield? Prisoners aren't supposed to kill each other, you know... and armies don't prepare their soldiers to die without regrets. If you don't want this to be your last meal, you'll have to survive.

...That might be the logic behind it, anyway.

[This is getting dangerously close to being some kind of pep talk about hope and finding a reason to live, though, and she's not interested in fumbling over her words or being a gigantic hypocrite right now.]

Anyway, it's not that bad. It's functional, right? It has... calories. And probably some nutirents?
schrodingers_man: (As heads is tails)

I was talking about the decor, but you've got a point. There wouldn't be much of a point to this exercise if we weren't interested in staying alive.

[ Yomiel's probably not the best recipient for a speech about hope, anyway. The sudden change of topic throws him for a bit of a loop for a minute, though; the "battlefield" her has calories and nutrients? Oh, she means the "food". Emphasis on the quotation marks. He's just going to stare quietly until the shame sets in. ]

[What shame, she never even stopped eating. She'd just as happily live on wild frogs and reptiles MGS3-style if people food weren't more convenient. Actually that would be a lot better than this, she was perfectly content but now she's starting to get a hankering for roasted monitor lizard. Thanks, shades guy.

Oh, right.]

What was your name?
schrodingers_man: (Please allow me to introduce myself)

[personal profile] schrodingers_man 2014-11-02 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
Yomiel. Yours?

[ This is the most people he's told his name to in years, man, so weird. ]

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-03 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Mukuro Ikusaba. I don't think so, but just to be safe, you haven't... heard that name anywhere before, have you?

[She's so lucky for the different worlds thing.]
schrodingers_man: (I'm a man of wealth and taste)

[personal profile] schrodingers_man 2014-11-03 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think so. Kind of a mouthful isn't it?

[ Nice cultural sensitivity, jackass. ]

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-03 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
I could say the same about your name. I'm not even sure what language it's from...
schrodingers_man: (Is the nature of my game)

If you go back far enough, it's probably Hebrew.

[ Specifically it's the name of an obscure-ass apocryphal fallen angel, but neither character in this conversation is likely to know that bit of religious trivia. It's also almost a pun in Japanese because this is a Shu Takumi character, but it's thankfully roundabout enough that Mukuro's not likely to pick up on it without knowing his backstory. ]
