[Good afternoon, Citizens!

Your consciousness blurrily returns as the transport tube your comatose body was stored in opens up, admitting you access to an unfamiliar room. One wall is covered by vertical tubes, one occasionally sliding open to admit another confused person. The wall across from you has a sign saying "PROCEED TO CENTRAL HUB", with an arrow pointing at a red doorway in the corner. The wall to your right contains an unlabeled, dusty, and poorly-lit hallway with blue walls, floor, and ceiling. You can't see the end from here.

Somewhere on your person, you will find a thin, smartphone-sized object that wasn't there before. One side of it is lit up with a red background and a number of disabled menu items. Most of the screen is taken up by another message saying "PROCEED TO CENTRAL HUB".

What is this place, anyway? And who are these people stumbling in through the transport tube array?]

[He's uh, kind of afraid of the dark, so not being alone would be best...]

[Well, Greed absolutely hates being alone in a tiny room so this will probably work out best for the both of them.]

That makes things easy.

Maybe I'll be able to tell you more about where I'm from.

[....not sure if joking or actually seriously offering.]

I would like that. Your home sounds interesting.

[Well, apparently he's taking it as a serious offer!]

So long as you tell me something interesting about your world.

I'm not sure what would interest you, but I'm willing to discuss it.

[He's not entirely sure how much overlap there is between their worlds. Do you guys have balverines, Heroes, and the Crawler? He really hopes you don't have the Crawler.]

If nothing else, it'll pass the time.

[Because he doesn't sleep. Ever.

And no, he has no idea what the Crawler is but with a name like that he's imagining some sort of giant centipede and ugh.]

...You don't sleep much, do you?

[Good, that makes two of them!

And no, it's not a centipede, though he kind of wishes it was. At least then it would be gross and not... horrifying.]

Not really, no.

[He'll avoid getting into the whole 'literally doesn't need sleep to function' thing because he's pretty good at pretending he's sleeping when he needs to, and because not sleeping at all is kind of alarming.

......sorry about everything, by the way, because holy shit that thing is made of nightmares.]

I won't keep you up all night.

There's no reason to worry about that. I don't sleep much as it is.

[That might explain why he's rocking some really heavy bags around his eyes...

And yeah, we don't discuss the Crawler. Ever.]

We should both try to get some sleep.

[What with the whole murder everybody aspect to this 'game.'

.....maybe it's not so wise to bunk up.]

I'm not sure how well anyone will sleep here.

[You'd think someone would have thought about this. Apparently not!]

If everyone is too exhausted to be trigger-happy, I won't be complaining.

[The advantage of not sleeping is maybe being able to see it coming!

If only it were that easy.

[He's pretty sure half the people here are homicidal already. This is going to be great...]

The only advantage one can have is staying ahead of the game. Who knows how possible that is.

[YEAH you're talking to one of those people right now....]

I don't know. It might not be possible at all, but there's no way to know right now.

[Greed....]

[Look, he's not going to come right out and say it, that would be stupid.]

Maybe we'll get lucky and put a stop to this early.

Probably not.

My hopes aren't high, unfortunately.

[Things never seem to go his way, after all.]

It would probably be best to figure out exactly what we're dealing with before making plans.

That's my thought as well.

[Really, Greed's luck is complete shit in this regard, too. This is just more bad news.]

We'll need the luck. It's all we have.

I'm sure we'll be able to figure something out once we know more about what we're doing here.

You have more confidence than I.

This isn't about confidence, it's about necessity. We will find a way to work through this because we need to.

[Apparently it's that easy.]

Here's to getting to the bottom of this sooner rather than later.
