[Good morning! The doors unlock at 07:00, the enforced sleep effect wearing off just a few minutes prior. As you file out into the facility for the morning, it won’t take long to figure out what’s different. The first clue is probably the corpse in the Central Hub - the body that formerly belonged to Seryu Ubiquitous.

Once everyone’s up, there is an announcement from Friend Computer.]

Good morning, Citizens! Last night, participant Seryu-R-CIT-1 was terminated due to Communist action. In addition, one participant was successfully converted from a Citizen into a Communist. There are now 13 Citizens and 6 Communists.

Trial 01 will begin at 20:00.

[At 08:00, the usual fleet of cleaning droids will clear up the corpse and surrounding mess.

On the profiles list, Seryu’s full User ID is now visible, and her status has changed to DEAD.]

[Logan arrives not long after Greed but once he sees the scene he draws to a halt with a sharp intake of breath.

Death isn't something that should bother him, he knows that. He's seen his fair share of death and taken a few lives as well. His hands are far from clean, but something about this scene doesn't sit well with him. Logan immediately clenches his fists at his sides, closes his eyes for a moment, and finally turns to Greed.]

Are you alright?

[It's kind of a stupid question to ask; Greed doesn't look like this is upsetting him, after all. But he has to focus on something else right now, so this will have to do.]

[ossifragant]

[Unlike some of the people here, he's actually fine. It's hardly the first death he's seen, and it won't be the last one he sees here, either.]

I've been better.

I was thinking it's a terrible way to go out.

[He could probably go one, but the way Logan is dressed, Greed figures he might have at least some idea.]

[decrees]

I imagine it would be, yes.

[Logan turns away from the body so he can focus on something, anything else.]

[ossifragant]

[Greed... isn't as effected, but he still turns away himself, hands messing with the edges of his jacket.]

Trial's gonna be a mess. I doubt we'll catch the person responsible for this.

Maybe it would help if I knew what a "communist" is, but I don't have a clue.

[decrees]

I'm afraid I don't know either. I don't understand the point of all this, but I suppose that's not something we're supposed to understand.

[It's easier to talk about that than it is the dead girl over there.]

[ossifragant]

[Maybe they should move away from the dead girl. Greed motions for Logan to follow him, though he's not going to be walking anywhere in particular.]

I was expecting it to happen, but I had no idea it would be after one day. Humans really have no shame.

[decrees]

[He does follow, though he quirks an eyebrow at that.]

"Humans"? Are you something else?

[ossifragant]

[...good job greed]

I meant people in general.

I guess I can't blame them; we all have a lot to lose.

[decrees]

[Logan's expression doesn't change and he doesn't comment on the slip of the tongue, but he's filed that information away for later.]

I know. If we don't play the game we can't get out of here, but if we do play it...

[People will die, just like that girl.

This should bother him more than it does.]

I think we both know what'll happen to people who try to sit this out.

[Because other people will still be playing the game, and the ones who try to avoid it will be the first to go.]

Whoever's running this won't allow it.
