TRIAL 01

Attention, Citizens! You have ten minutes to proceed to the Loyalty Chamber. Anyone who is late to the Loyalty Chamber, or who brings any weapons into the Loyalty Chamber, will be immediately executed.

[Once you arrive, you will find a large chamber, with twenty podiums spaced around the room in a circle. On the ceiling, a massive screen showing the digital eye of The Computer, turning to look at whoever is talking.]

You have one hour to come to a consensus about who to eliminate. Ties will be broken randomly.

[The floor of the chamber begins to split apart, eventually only leaving the twenty podiums as safe places to stand, above a seemingly bottomless abyss. Each podium lights up with a touch screen showing twenty user IDs (Seryu-R-CIT-1 is grayed out), plus the word “ABSTAIN”. The trial begins now!]

I'm wondering why they took action against that particular person.

She was the one to introduce herself saying her hobby is "justice," maybe someone decided to take the initiative to make sure Miss Justice couldn't do whatever she pleased.

Yeah, and Fulbright introduced himself to me by yelling "In justice we trust" or something equally asinine. Given that he's also massive, I would have started with him rather than her.

We don't know how this happened, and I doubt that computer is going to give us any hints.

So...what, we don't have anything to go off of unless we want to play some stupid "raise your hand if you're an idiot" variant and hope someone bites?!

It'd be helpful if we could go by the clues left behind at the scene, wouldn't it?

Even if this was the Communists all ganging up together and killing her, that's at least five if not six people all committing a murder together. It's that wording, "Communist action," that has me wondering if there's something we're missing.

Why would the Communists choose her? Did she upset anyone or was she considered a threat?

Bad luck on her part? Did she say anything odd to anyone?

I didn't pay much attention to her, unfortunately. Hopefully someone else saw or heard something useful.

She was very vocal about her...hobbies, wasn't she? In a place like this...

If you're talking about the justice thing, they might as well have taken out Fulbright. Have you heard him?

Well, can't they only take out one person per night regardless...?

No, not quite. Seryu's profile lists combat skills, and Fulbright's doesn't. We know now that those aren't intended to be relevant, but it could have contributed to her percieved threat level.

He's some sort of police, isn't he? Wouldn't that come with the territory?

Most likely, but they're also supposed to operate on the assumption that people are innocent. Which, given the amount of meaningless evidence, probably won't be an option either.

That's the other thing, though - you'd think you would want to take out the people who are actually good at this sort of thing first. Right? Don't you want to take out the smart ones, not the loud ones?

Yes, but that discounts the possibility that Fulbright is a Communist. Although, can you really say that any of us are actually good at this sort of thing?
