DAY 00

[Good afternoon, Citizens!

Your consciousness blurrily returns as the transport tube your comatose body was stored in opens up, admitting you access to an unfamiliar room. One wall is covered by vertical tubes, one occasionally sliding open to admit another confused person. The wall across from you has a sign saying "PROCEED TO CENTRAL HUB", with an arrow pointing at a red doorway in the corner. The wall to your right contains an unlabeled, dusty, and poorly-lit hallway with blue walls, floor, and ceiling. You can't see the end from here.

Somewhere on your person, you will find a thin, smartphone-sized object that wasn't there before. One side of it is lit up with a red background and a number of disabled menu items. Most of the screen is taken up by another message saying "PROCEED TO CENTRAL HUB".

What is this place, anyway? And who are these people stumbling in through the transport tube array?]

[[Beyond the three prompts below, anyone may start their own prompts to mingle or go off and do their own thing or whatever else they want!]]

Central Hub

[Someone decided quickly to extricate herself from any impending bedroom assignment drama. Near a railing and between a couple of fake bushes, Mukuro has constructed a rudimentary tent. Oh, by the way, she may not be staying in a room but she did steal some bedding and a chair from one to make the tent. It seemed like a fair compromise, about which she did not consult or warn anyone. Though inside the tent and more or less resting, she's alert for anyone who approaches.]

Need something?
ossifragant: (⊗ well we'll take care of that for you)

[personal profile] ossifragant 2014-11-02 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
[That's... not something you see everyday, is it? Greed stops short, raising his brows at the kid.]

Any reason you've decided to camp out here and not use one of the rooms?

[He'd honestly just been passing by, but she has his attention now.]

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-02 02:01 am (UTC)(link)
A few people won't be able to get rooms to themselves. I don't mind being one of them.

[See, she's considerate.]

...And from here I might be able to tell who's sneaking around other parts of the facility.
ossifragant: (⊗ your children have turned on you)

[personal profile] ossifragant 2014-11-02 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
How considerate of you.

[It's deadpan, but he looks thoughtful enough.]

Here's to hoping it doesn't get too cold at night.

[Having someone keep watch seems like a reasonably good idea, but given what sort of place this is, well... hopefully they're on the same side.]

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-02 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
Well... teamwork.

[She's more used to being a one-woman army, but she's gotten some miraculous results by working together with her allies before. In a situation not unlike this one, even. She might as well try to use this as a chance to practice.]

Anyway, there's no way it'll be too uncomfortable in here for me to manage. It can't be as bad as the temperature extremes you get in desert combat.
ossifragant: (⊕ death they'll bring)

[personal profile] ossifragant 2014-11-02 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
That seems reasonable enough.

[This isn't the sort of game a person can play if they're too trusting, but it's also probably not possible at all if someone is working completely alone.

But there's something else there that's of interest to him:]

You have experience with desert combat?

[She... doesn't look that old. It's probably nothing more than an odd coincidence given what he heard happened not too long ago where he's from, but... Hmm.]

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-02 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
And jungle, urban, naval a little bit... when I was a member of Fenrir, we operated all over Europe and Asia.

[She has a weirdly nostalgic look for someone reflecting on her military service record. Especially someone who's not old enough to drink. But hey, she's people in her world have done a lot worse than join mercenary organizations lately.]
ossifragant: (⊕ bad choice bad choice)

[personal profile] ossifragant 2014-11-02 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
I see.

[He has no idea what Europe or Asia are, but he assumes it's either continents or countries, so the organization she was in sounds impressive. And a little odd, to be employing children.

Though maybe that's the point. Amestris does the same thing for its military, after all.]

You're quite experienced.

[This is probably the wrong thing to say entirely but you know, when has Greed ever known the right thing to say?]

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-02 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
[No, that's actually not that bad a choice considering who you're talking to. If there's one thing Mukuro likes about herself, it's that she fights good.]

...Do you have any military training? You seemed interested...
ossifragant: (⊗ soon heads will be rolling)

[personal profile] ossifragant 2014-11-02 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
Not exactly, no.

But back where come from, I've worked with soldiers before.

[It's genuine interest coming from him and not faked interest. Even if Greed stays out of the way of conflicts these days, it's still fascinating.]

[personal profile] fullonbraced 2014-11-02 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa!

[The sound of heavy footfalls preceded the arrival of Robin, who was already gushing about this tent.]

You made a tent! That's awesome!

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-02 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh... um... you think so?

[It's really kind of a shitty tent, it's not like she had the materials to pitch a proper one. More of a glorified blanket fort. Either way, she doesn't really know how to deal with kids, especially ones who aren't scared of her.]

I was just thinking I'm used to going without a real bed anyway, so...
fullonbraced: (It's all about the art maaaan!)

[personal profile] fullonbraced 2014-11-02 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Totally! It's like a work of art Professor Courte would make!

[...Robin had a really "out there" art teacher. If she had some pottery, she'd be smashing it against the floor right now.]

Man, that's smart! I counted all the beds earlier, and there's only fourteen! What's that about man?!

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-02 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
[She doesn't even know enough about art to know if she should ask who Professor Courte is, so let's take the high, socially refined rode and kind of nod semi-appreciatively and try to talk about something else.]

Bad planning, I guess. If it's sleep outside or get a roommate, though, I'd rather sleep outside...

plentyfriendly: (phi$ man -k axiom)

[personal profile] plentyfriendly 2014-11-02 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
Not particularly. I guess I should thank you, though.

[She'd looked through the other profiles by this point... Still, probably better not to bring up her name.]

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-02 06:15 am (UTC)(link)
...Uh... thanks. I mean, you're welcome... I mean, um, why?

[Has she done something good? Is this about volunteering for guard duty? She didn't think it was that big a deal, but are you supposed to tell someone not to thank you? Gratitude is a really alien concept here.]
plentyfriendly: (phi$ showrgb)

[personal profile] plentyfriendly 2014-11-02 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
I just figured there was going to be fighting over who got beds.

[And they probably shouldn't be arguing so much before the game even begins. Betrayal is one thing, but not having a place to sleep... it's one night. And in a few days they might be down enough people that it won't be necessary.]

...well, there probably still will be, just less of it.

[personal profile] in_plain_sight 2014-11-02 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Well, you know, I'm probably more comfortable like this anyway...

[Assuming the Computer doesn't put a stop to it.]
plentyfriendly: (phi$ grep -a solve pzldb)

[personal profile] plentyfriendly 2014-11-02 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Well, whatever works.

[This was one thing different already. There were too many time limits before to sleep.]
